Introduction / Overview:

Drivetrain:
1965 Volkswagen with the ring gear flipped so that the engine is in front of the rear axle.
Class rules restrict engine mods but the crank, rods and pistons are balanced and the cam is custom ground. Carb is bored out and re jetted. Intake manifold is expanded by pulling a steel ball through it and acid etched to comply with a max diameter restriction. Heads are polished. Added oil cooler.
Valve springs are shimmed to get 6300 rpm. 55 hp.
Chassis:
Two 4" steel tubes with cross braces and a roll bar with forward diagonals.
Stock VW front end with one spring set replaced by anti-roll bar. The other spring set has two of the four leaves cut because of the reduced weight.
"Zero roll" rear suspension which limits rear axle droop and pivots around the differential. Leading arms for fore and aft control.
Car weighs 1,000lbs after race with driver aboard (per rules).
Wheels:
Stock slotted VW wheels (per the rules) with M&H Racemaster slicks in the dry, Goodyear racing rain tires in the wet.
