Introduction / Overview:
This is a 360 Magnum Dodge powered rear engine dragster that I race at Firebird, in Phoenix, AZ. This dragster was originally built in 1979 for Red Greth and Lyle Fisher of Speed Sport Automotive fame. It was built for Top Fuel but never run. In the early 90's it was updated by Tom Yancer to run in NHRA legal Super Comp. I bought the car in 2000 to run in brackets with a small block Mopar. Using a 380hp 360c.i. Magnum crate motor out of the box, the car has run a best of 9.94 seconds at 135mph! That's a cheap way to go fast!
Drivetrain:
Dodge Magnum crate motor, 380hp, 360c.i. The transmission is a "shorty tailshaft" Torqueflite 727, directly coupled with a u-joint to the Ford 9 inch rear end with 4.56 gears. The car weighs 1,350 pounds without the driver, and approximately 1,600 pounds with the driver and fueled, ready to race.
Chassis:
Top Fuel chassis, modified by Tom Yancer Race Cars in the 90s. Modification includes updated roll cage, and shorter length of 225 inches. The entire frame is powder coated grey. I did all the paint on the body myself.
Wheels:
Firestone drag race slicks 12.5 - 32 - 15 on the back on Centerline wheels, and skinny little Avons on Centerline wheels up front.
Body:
Hand fabricated body panels. All paint and lettering were done by me.
Interioir:
Single aluminum seat with 5 point safety harness.
