Introduction / Overview:
This car was originally owned my high school shop teacher's grandparent's, who bought it brand new off the lot in '66. His aunt has owned it since the 80's when she had it repainted (worst paint job ever, she says). The story is that her brothers would take care of it for her, fix the brakes, water pump, etc... But then it blew a head gasket and sat for 12 years. Well as you can imagine the motor is now a pretty good boat anchor. But the rest of the car only has 23,000 original miles!!! Anyway, she had it towed to school to get the brakes done (forgetting about the motor) and when she was told the engine was no good she said "eh, take it to the junk yard..." So I said Hey, I'll take it! As luck would have it, about 6 months earlier I was given and freshly rebuild 340 for free!! Same exact engine as was stock. Some guy had the motor built, paid it full up front, and then was never heard from again. Score!!! Its never even been broken in yet!! In the three days that Ive owned this car Ive pulled the motor and almost got the new one in. So far the only money Ive spent on this car what so ever was the DMV fees, about $40!!!!
