Introduction / Overview:
63' Pontiac Grand Prix, i have owned this car 3 times since the mid-80's. This time i decided to keep it and restore it. I started body off the frame tear down in Nov.05'..I've been pickin and piecing at it since..Frame was completely stripped, repaired, and painted gloss black. A new trunk was installed.Bodywork is pretty much done except for blocksanding..I have it back together enough to drive. I'm hopeing to have the body ready for paint by late spring. I have antique plates on it. I am restoring this car on a shoestring budget and in my spare time, so its a slow process, as many of you know. I can't wait till it's show and cruise ready...
Drivetrain:
389 engine, automatic stick on the floor with console, 3:23 posi-track
Chassis:
all stock, lowered 3" all around, all new bushings in frontend, new shocks
Wheels:
alum. slots on it now, but when it's all done, i have an old set of original Thrust-D 14" wheels for it..tires to be decided later
Body:
bodywork done with mig welding new pieces and patches in, followed up with metal to metal putty, thin coat of lightweight putty for smoothness and finally glazing putty for the finish. Car is in Hot Rod Primer black right now...not real sure on paint color yet..but it will have a nice long set of flames flowing on it when done. Door handles are shaved, as is the nose and trunk and quarter panel emblems..rocker panels were dechromed and holes welded shut. A new trunk floor was welded in. My plans for the bumpers are to been shaved back against the body as close as possible, and smoothed out.
Interioir:
interior is stock and in very good condition. it is all white, bucket seats, floor shifter and console with the vacuum gauge. I will be replacing the headliner and carpet.
