Firebird

Introduction / Overview:
This is my 74 Firebird Formula 400. Recent changes have made the car MUCH faster. A new bottom end, Jeff KJauffman Aluminum heads, bigger cam and valve train, safety equipment and much much more. What a fun car to drive.
Drivetrain:
Drive train is a 72 Block. Displacement has noe been increased with the addition of the aluminum heads and cam. A Northwind iontake manifold is currently being modified to match the cylinder heads. While it is being done a Holley street dominator with a phenolic 1" spacer sits just below a Holley 830 Annular carburetor. Harland shrap rockers and 2.11-1.77 valves deliver fuel to the 74cc chambered heads.A turbo 400 transmission with a 10" 4,000 stahl converter and an Eaton Posi with upodated $.11:1 rear gearing. It is a 10 bolt rear and will remain so as it has been modified to deal with the added power. I am confident it is strong enough at this point including drag strip use.
Chassis:
The chassis has been modified by adding Chris Alston Chassisworks subframe connectors sponsored to the car for my students to install. See photos included here. Rear bump bars while the new system is being fabricated, a rear Hotchkis sway bar and 90 10 front drag shocks. Front sway bar has been removed.
Wheels:
Fronts are American Racing 15X41/2" torque thrusts on a radial skinny, the rears are 15X81/2" on BFG 275-60-R15's. They are no good for traction but fun on the street.
Body:
Body and paint is currently being freshened by Maita Chevrolet's chief man Mike Inong.
Interioir:
Interior is stock factory with the exception of everything under the dash has been removed, a six point roll bar and simpson dafety harnesses applied. A computer now monitors egt
