Ride Nickname:
68_Sleeper
Make:
Chevrolet
Model:
Chevelle
Year:
1968
Introduction / Overview:
Finally gave up on my '71 Chevelle SS project and sold it to buy this 4-door post. I've always liked seeing unusual cars at shows, and my wife does not share my affinity for El Caminos, so this car was something of a cmopromise. It's a lot of fun to drive, and looks good for a 4-door.
Drivetrain:
383 stroker, 350TH
Chassis:
Upgraded to power disk brakes in front, and 11" drums (instead of the stock 9 1/2" drums) in the rear.
Wheels:
Had to upgrade to 15" for clearance to clear the rear drums. Standard Corvette/Camaro rally-style wheels.
Body:
AWFUL Maaco job done by previous owner; part of the sleeper concept. I had the white vinyl top put on; Chevelles usually look better with vinyl tops in my book.
Interioir:
Non-original cloth bench seats; interior is in pretty good original-looking shape.
Lifestyles:
Build-It, Drive-It
