"September2009 winner" 1971 Pontiac GTO
Introduction / Overview: Have owned the car for 20+ years and after years of ground pounding I decided rotisserie restoration was in order. In 2000 the car was completed and has become a weekend warrior. She is equipped with a year correct 4 bolt main 455 with Ross pistons, Eagle rods, ARP studs, #96 ported and polished heads, Torker II intake, custom ground Crower crank, HEI and topped off with a Cliff Ruggles built HO Rochester Carb. This beast is backed by a Best Transmission race prepped turbo 400 and a 12 bolt posi with 3:31. The interior is a beautiful sandalwood with console. The suspension has been tricked out with Hotchkis A-arms and sway bars. The wheels were purchased in 1997 and were new to the market at the time ( I guess everyone else liked them too because they are no longer unique) the tires are ultra high performance Firestone SZ50 tires that grip like the car is on rails. Of course the car wouldn't be complete if she couldn't stop all that high-po stuff, so she wears 12" discs up front and 11" drums in the back! The best part is I have all the original number matching parts and she could be numbers correct if I ever wanted to go that way.
