"The Lincury" 1951 Mercury Custom
Introduction / Overview:
Well, those of you on the HAMB message boards: www.jalopyjournal.com are already familiar with my ride...I've had this project going on 8 years now, I seem to only get work done on it in the winter months here in Michigan, so I am about to get back at it.
I have a website that details the build progress, check it out here:
http://landyachts.homestead.com/index.html
Drivetrain: 2001 Ford roller H.O. 302 V-8; was a Roush "test" engine. Never installed in a car. 0 miles. Has GT-40P heads-- basically the engine that would have been installed in Explorers before they quit making the 302. Has a 1979 Cougar stock 2BBL intake and carb on it for now to get it running.
Chassis: Lightly modified stock 1988 Lincoln Town Car. Plans are to air-bag it.
Wheels and Tires: 1979 Cougar Turbine rollers for now. Eventually chrome smoothies on the front, you won't see the rears.
Body & Paint: All rust will be repaired; will have Frenched headlights, rear skirts, and 1954 Merc taillights. Eventual paint will be gloss black. '55 Desoto grill may be an option, as I have one already, but I do like the stock '51 Merc one too, minus the bumper override "holes".
Interioir: '66 Thunderbird wraparound back seat and front buckets. Steering column is out of an S-10. Haven't found a wheel I like yet...
