"Ol Red" 1972 Ford F100
Introduction / Overview:
This is my first classic truck - I come from a Mustang background. I look at this truck like a Mustang that can haul more than just a$$! HA! Originally equipped with a 302/3 on the tree. No frills Custom - no pb/ps/ac...so I'll be adding some options as I build.
Drivetrain:
- 1969 351W
- bored .030 over
- Crower Cam
- 3 angle valve job
- Hedman long tubes
- Close ratio Toploader 4-speed
- Stock 9" with factory 3.25's for now
Chassis: Bone stock for now - will either build a custom chasis on the side or 4-link/C-notch rear/Z cut front with coilovers in all 4 corners. Thought about bagging it but I think this will be the right way to go. I'm also considering a Crown Vic crossmember swap to give the truck 12" front discs, rack and pinion, and a 6+ inch drop if I end up Z cutting the front along with this conversion.
Wheels and Tires: Plans are for 18's/20's...not sure what brand but I love the Torque Thrust's or Boss 338's....both are a bit over used in the Hod Rod world...so we'll see. Possibly some Colorado Customs if the funds are plentiful :)
Body & Paint:
Plans for custom roll pan, shaved handles/emblems, 1 pc driver/pass windows. Also on the drawing board are designs for power rear-window. I'm sure there will be 1000 changes as I go along however...
Interioir:
- bucket seats
- removed dash pad (need to do a LOT of patch work)
- power windows (future mod)
- custom door panels/headliner (future mod)
- custom gauge panel w/Autometer Phantom gauges (future mod)
