"Lady in red" 1967 Mercury Cougar
Introduction / Overview: My baby. Bought her for $250 when I was 16. My dad did all the body work at home and got her ready for paint when I was 18. That was my high school graduation gift. Been doing a few little mods here and there, but mostly just driving when the weather is nice and enjoying the car the way it was meant to be enjoyed.
Drivetrain: 302 small block, not original to the car but stock internally as far as I know. It came in the car and it's been running great for 10 years so haven't had a desire to tear it down and see. C4 automatic transmission. 2.79:1 geared 8 inch rear end. Great rear-end for a driver. Currently have a matched set 289 and C4 out of another 67 Cougar, awaiting a freshening up to go in this car. That would make it almost numbers matching.
Chassis: All stock.
Wheels and Tires: American Wheel Company chrome. Firestone Indy 500.
Body & Paint: Body work done at home in the garage. Paint is Flame Red, sprayed by a body guy at the body shop where I worked in high school.
Interioir: Black XR7 interior taken out of another 67 Cougar I bought as a parts car.
