Introduction / Overview:
This is my new project / driver. many ask why i got it? well, it was cheap, and after going through a nasty breakup where i lost my 38 plymouth and a severaly customized 54 desoto, i didnt have much money left, so this fit my budget. the plan was to just drive it, but of course the brain starts ticking and ideas start forming. im in no hurry to build it, but over time things will get done here and there. the vision? two door it, chop it 4 to 5 inches, slam it, may or may not use bags yet. then a pretty awesome paint scheme that a mate of mine has for it. but, thats all time and money, so will just see how it goes.
Drivetrain: still runs the old 225 slant 6. and i dont have any plans to change it other than a tidy up, paint etc. will run it on lpg gas eventually to save costs on travel cos petrol is getting stupid money here in new zealand now.
Chassis: factory. has torsion front, leaf rears. so far the torsion bars are wound down, but not to the bottom yet. would love to source some dropped spindles for it to get the front down a further 2 inches. cant find them here in nz, and the australian company that makes them have no stock and dont know when they will do a run next. the rear has 2 inch lowering blocks and thats it for now. will eventually reverse the spring mounts which should take it down a further 2 inches. will need to modify the floor pan a bit to allow the driveshaft some travel.
Wheels and Tires: will remain factory. 14 inch rims, will be painted and will run either option of bullets or moon discs depending what mood im in.
Body & Paint: have started installing poppr kit for doors, but just do what i can when i can. not limited for time, but limited for tools as again, most lost in the break up. haha. oh well. will have shaved door handles etc. the plan for paint will be a medium depth green, metalflake silver roof with candy pinstriping, then woodgrain up the sides to look like a tacky 70's family cruiser (think national lampoons vacation, hahaha). wheels will be a bright lime green to stnd out against the dark green. thats the plan anyways, but thats changes from day to day. as you will all know.
Interioir: to remain stock for now cos im a solo dad to two kids of 4 and 5 years old, so i need it to be something they can kids in and spill drinks and ice cream on. eventually, just a tidy remake of original trim but probably with white tuck n roll with lime piping. new hoodlining. car has no gadgets, no stereo etc. will hide a cd player in there somewhere, but that will be it. not big on the gadget stuff.
