I’ve been meaning to write a post on custom paint and especially the amazing custom paint you’ll find on lowriders and customs, especially in NorCal. With the great customs piling in at the NorCal Knockout, I finally got the shots I wanted.
Lend a hand! If you know these cars, and more importantly, who the painter is… please leave a comment (you don’t have to register or anything) and I’ll add the info to this story. There’s nothing I’d like to do more than give credit to these painters. Fantastic work!
This is the roof of the 1959 Lincoln (pretty sure on the year) shown above. Rainbow flake with lace and darker flake fade. This car was a show stopper and won best of show.
I know this was the roof of a 62 or so Ford Thunderbird. You’ve got it all here! Lace, multi colors of metal flake including rainbow flake and silver metal flake. There’s even some flames…
I’m running out of ways to say, Unbelievably cool. You’d think these guys own stock in masking tape!
Hell yea! This is a little farther back on the same car.
Loved this one! The candy paint, silver flake or gold flake?? The best part was the flake continued on the side trim.
This shot is from one of the “Lens Junkies” John Lemoine. Great angle and great color my man!
To hear about the rest of the 2012 NorCal Knockout, please check out this story.
And don’t forget to help with info on the cars, owners and painters. Thanks!
Love it!!! Just up my sleeve lately. I re-read the “May Cause Dangerous” article on Kirk Jone’s ’60 Starliner from the 2009 Rodders Journal!
Those are some seriously awesome custom cars. Love the flake paint. Will be checking back in to see who did these paint jobs, that took some serious skills. Thanks for posting the pictures!
This is amazing car painting method, I want to know about this method in my car workshop. Permit me to post in my classic car Indonesian blog
Go ahead and post the story. Please place a link to MyRideisMe.com.

Guiseppe, my friend… I’m sure I can’t teach you how to do a lace-flake paint job like that over a blog comment. There’s alot to learn to get this done! Try to find someone local to help you buddy! -pikesan
Chris Miranda at West Coast Auto Craft Painted first car with the laced roof for sure. I worked with him when he did it.
