I first bumped into Ms. Zoe Scarlett while looking for a great hot rod pinup picture to use for the very first MyRideisMe.com flier ever made. Graphic artist and Photographer Dirk Behlau kindly let the tiny web start-up use his image. That black hot rod with stunning blond featured Zoe Scarlett who is now the June Pinup of the Month. * How'd you become a pinup? Is pinup big in Switzerland? I took my first pin-up pictures in my boyfriend’s garage on a very cold day in January. I wanted to surprise him with some cute pictures when he returned from his holiday. I never thought that this would be my future career! At the same time, Switzerland’s most famous newspaper, BLICK, advertised a contest called ‘the cutest neighbor’. I spontaneously decided to take part in the contest and sent in the pictures I’d made for my boyfriend. Two days later, there was a huge picture of me on the cover of Switzerland’s BLICK! Well, that was the beginning of my pin-up modeling career! * What's your favorite pinup picture ever? That’s a hard question, during my career as...
Pinup Dreams Made True in Vegas
posted by pikesan
This story was written by Dave or elmoco40 in his MyRideisMe garage. It's a story of a guy finding love and hot rods! It's bring a tear to your eye if Dave's wife, Larua Lee weren't so hot! This is exactly the kind of story we want at MyRideisMe.com! Great times, get'n the girl, what else is there? For Dave's efforts, I'm sending him a pack of Pinup Playing Cards by Heidi Van Horne and Sabina Kelly. Look for a contest soon where you can win your set of pinup playing cards, or just send us your ideas! I grew up in so. Cal, in the town of Santa Ana, CA. Growing up I was surrounded by a lot of lowriders and kustoms that were owned by local clubs and gangs. I was always fascinated by the elaborate paint jobs and the use of hydraulics on there cars, so when I was old enough to know what a wrench was and how to operate a spray can, I began my journey into ripping things apart and trying to somehow make'em different, whether it was bikes or big wheels, something...
Drifting Photos from Drift Day 26 in Wisconsin

Drift Day 26 Story and Photos by Daniel Lo over at Corner Speed Photo Thanks Dan! This past Sunday marked my first time shooting 4 wheels for me. My first love is the 2 wheeled variety over at Corner Speed Photo. Thanks to some professional guidance, I think it worked out! Held at USA International Raceway in Shawano, WI, "Drift Day 26" featured big names from the Midwest drift scene with the likes of Simba Nyemba of GripGambler and Mike Pollard of TMF Opposition in attendance. All this was made possible by my friend and pro shooter Danny Lim who was covering the event for Wrecked Magazine and was kind enough to invite an amateur to tag along. Check out his coverage of Formula Drift at Long Beach this year. Having had fairly minimal exposure to the sport of drifting beyond watching The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift and the odd YouTube clip, it took me a while to understand what exactly I was supposed to be shooting. Fortunately, Danny was on hand to coach me thru the basics so I had a bit of a jumpstart on...
Cam Design Guide for Weber Carbs
posted by pikesan
If you've visited MyRideisMe.com before, you know I have a 27 Ford Roadster with a fairly hot 2.3L Ford four cylinder that's better known as a "Pinto Motor". I've got a not-so-cool problem with the Weber 44 IDF induction setup right now though... When I get into the throttle, not that I'd ever do that, I get a misting of fuel over the top of the carbs. OK, it's less of a mist than a toxic ozone killing cloud of gas vapor. (I'll commute tomorrow to make up for it!). I owe you a video of this, before and after. So what I'd do? I knew Inglese Induction Systems are the experts. Inglese has been making intakes for this setup for a long time so they must know what's happening and how to fix it. Even more cool? Inglese is now owned by the Comp Performance Group that also owns, Comp Cams. I've always had great success with Comp Cams in my Ford V8's and my pops has been really happy too. Having 2 great reasons, I called over to Comp Cams. "...should get the torque to come on...
May Pinup of the Month – Candace Campbell
posted by pikesan
I saw Ms. Candace at the Pinupalooza show during Viva Las Vegas, but I didn't know it since she didn't have the stunning red hair in the picture below. Plus, when flanked by hotties like Sabina Kelly, Dayna Delux and Heidi Van Horne, it's easy to get distracted. None the less we're friends now and here's some info about May's Pinup of the Month: Candace Campbell. I was born in a small Louisiana parish. You're looking at a genuine born and raised southern belle. Since I was little I've been amazed by the mysterious blues lounge singers of new Orleans and fascinated with the glamorous vintage Hollywood and retro pin up style of the 40s. This explains why I am able to capture that classic essence so comfortably. I am a mix of the two worlds. I was inspired by the bravery of elegance of Bettie Page, Marilyn Monroe, and Audrey Hepburn to name a few. I began collecting vintage clothes from the 1920's through the 1950's and learned about the details of dressing vintage from head to toe. I found out that not only were women dressed perfectly,...
Video: Viper Chases Porsche on Nurburgring
posted by pikesan
When's the last time you held onto the edge of your seat watching a small format racing video like what you see on Youtube? You're in for a treat. I found this video while surfing NAGTROC.org, the North American GT-R Owners Club website. It's not a video of the GT-R, but it's the kind of stuff anyone who loves fast cars would really get into. The video is made by Race Media TV, a German website that specializes in track race videos (from what I can see) and I'm guessing they have the Nurburgring right in their back yard. Give the video just 1 minute to get past the short into that precedes a Dodge Viper chasing at Porsche GT3 around the twists at the Nurburgring. Some serious driving skills shown by all!...
10 Nissan Cube(s) Stack into Scottsdale Car Show
posted by pikesan
Someone asked me, "How'd you get 10 Nissan Cubes?" I said, "Well I broke the first Cube 9 times." Figuring I didn't answer his question, I continued... "I asked and they said yes!" They is Nissan and they've got 10 Nissan Cubes being prepped for release to the media for evaluation, write-ups and sometimes criticism. That's what the consumers read in print and online magazines like MyRideisMe.com. For those of you lucky enough to live in Arizona, you'll get a sneak peak of the new Nissan Cube. And.. if you haven't seen one in person, check out the Nissan GT-R. Except for inside national super-shows like the Los Angeles Auto Show where the Cube first occupied equal space on all side 6 sides last year in November, this is the first time the geometric, love-hate styled Econo-box (couldn't resist) has been seen in the wild with other shapes. Where: Scottsdale Pavilion at Indian Bend and 101 When: 4:30 to 9 PM on May 2nd, 2009 (This is a one-time only deal!) What: 10 Pre-release, totally new Nissan Cubes, plus 1 rockin, bad-to-the-bone Nissan GT-R! Since I haven't driven it...
Green Gas Runnin’ Ford Falcon Turbo
posted by pikesan
Ford Falcon: Turbo Race Car I met, Kelly McLearran at the Speedworld Nostalgia Drags and found out she's was more then just the pilot of this 10 second quarter mile 1963 Ford Falcon. As if that blasting 10's with 2 less cylinders than the average racer weren't enough, she's also known to turn a few wrenches, they run E85 instead of race fuel and I'm delighted to say she's a breast cancer survivor. If you didn't know already I'm a Ford Falcon fan. Pops was a Ford mechanic for 25+ years, so when it came to drag racing, sprint cars or of course NASCAR, we were always routing for the blue oval boys. So when I found this killer home built Falcon at the drags way up town at Speedworld, I had to take a look. I've seen this car before and heard about the woman driving it from the forum at fordsix.com. Between rounds, we had a chat about how she made a Ford six cylinder run that hard and why, My Ride is Me. Kelly's website, Quarter Mile for a Cure, tells her story....
Ladies of Viva Las Vegas
posted by pikesan
One of the fun and from what I've seen fairly unique parts of the Viva Las Vegas car show is the girls! Some of them professional pinups like the lovely Kim Falcon pictured here, and some of them girls trying to be pinups or just out having a good time! Whatever the motivation, we like! As you cruised the show, you'd see these girls done up pinup-like or sometimes just looking hot and when they'd stop at a car, the cameras would come out like crazy and a near mob-scene started as everyone tried to get their own shots. They should just come to MyRideisMe.com, it saves on film! (duh, I know) So check out Paul Swanson (Swanee@myrideisme.com) my man and chief photo madman's new Ladies of Viva gallery. He's got photos all over the place and a really nice garage filled with his favorite pics. Contact him if you want one of the photos, especially a high resolution or something without the MyRideisMe logo. He's cool like that. If we caught you walking around, let us...
Pullin Lines #1: New Pinstriping Picture Gallery
posted by pikesan
You can't shake a stick at a hot rod or custom car show or here in the custom garages at MyRideisMe.com without seeing some pinstriping. We added a "Hot Rods and Pinups" gallery cause everyone likes the sexy vintage styled girls... The same kind of thinking made me add a Pinstriping Gallery. It's just a good fit. The gallery is LOADED with pictures. Well, not really, there's only the pictures from the Viva Las Vegas car show, put there's alot from that show. VLV's the kind of show where I'd say 80-90% of the cars have custom pinstripes. Here's just a few of the pictures in the gallery:[gallery = 27] To make the pinstriping gallery happen, we'll be shooting detailed photos of pinstripes at the shows and races we cover in the Event gallery and more importantly featuring pinstripe artist that are making their living pulling lines all over the country. Look for a story on Von Hot Rod and also my buddy Charlie the "One Arm Bandit". Charlie's also got a great community similar to us at Hot Rod Revival. Check it out! With the pinstripes on hoods,...
Cool Nights in Phoenix – Cruise on Central
posted by pikesan
Info about the October 2009 Cruise and the $5 Charge Carbon footprint size 12 triple E, but that was fun! For those of us living in Arizona, April's not necessarily the START of the cruising season, but it the sure is nice! After some ill timed rain canceled the cruise on April 11th, we got treated to some especially nice weather for April 18th. Wow, enough BS about the weather! So how was it? PACKED! I showed up late after a busy day of honey-do's and sports with my boys to find a packed house! At 8PM, about when I got there, some of Arizona's finest hot rods, customs and lowriders were found cruising to the delight of the packed sidewalks along Central in front of the Park Central Mall just south of Osborn. I didn't get a chance to cruise into the parking lot, but from the street it looked packed with cars and people and even the mandatory kettle corn vendor. For about 2 miles, it was a rare treat to actually enjoy "stop and go" traffic cause you were surrounded by cool cars and folks having...
Hot Rod Interior Guy Finishes Own Car!

Hot Rod Model A Shop Truck The post man doesn't go for a walk on his day off and hot rod builders, painters and upholstery guys never get a chance to finish their own cars. That's almost a rule! That's why it's my pleasure to show you the finished product when they do. This is th 1932 Hot Rod "Shop Truck" is owned by Glenn Kramer of Hot Rod Interiors, located in Glendale Arizona. Glenn says, "I've been doing upholstery since 1980, and decided the best ride for me would be an all around hot rod shop truck that I could use for work & play."
