100+ Hot Rods and Custom Cars Story and Photos by Royboy Productions Wow! What can I saw about John Well's Vintage Torque Fest!? Great show sums it up succinctly, but that doesn’t do justice to this event, car show, music festival, drive-in, bus racing, motorcycle racing exhibition, hot laps with the show cars… and all to benefit helpinghannahsheart.org! Here’s my Royboy Production story of Vintage Torque Fest 2011. 4:30am came early on Friday, I'm not a morning person but I was on a mission! The forecast was for rain on Saturday but since the show started at noon on Friday I planned on getting there and getting some shots in of all the folks that showed up Friday. 600 miles behind me I arrived at Vintage Torque Fest at the Jackson County Fairgrounds in Maquoketa, Iowa. Friday's drive was no time for enjoying my travel like normal, it was 80mph for 9 hours... and it was sooooo worth it! There was a good turn out on Friday, ton's of cool cars and some of my favorite folks showed up. The Oliver Built Group out of Des Moines was out...
It’s Fast! Custom Studebaker Coupe Fastback
posted by GreaseGirl
Custom 1953 Studebaker Coupe Altered Into A Fastback Studebaker folks are unfailingly interesting. So when I met John Saltsman at the 2011 Grand National Roadster Show this past January standing by his amazing Atomitron, a highly customized 1949 Studebaker pickup, I wasn't too surprised to hear that he had other Studebaker stories to share. However, when he produced the few pictures in existence of the 1953 Studebaker Coupe he modified as a teenager, I couldn't believe what I was seeing! The first unbelievable thing about this custom... It was built by John while he was still in high school! The year was 1970 and Fastback Mustang's were all the rage. He liked 'em, but couldn't afford one. What he lacked in cash he made up for with a wealth of car building knowledge in his family. Looking at the lines of the '53 Coupe he figured it could be built into a fastback all his own. The main modification was creating the fastback. To do this, he took the trunk out of a 1949 Cadillac and covered the whole trunk section and back window with it, integrating it into...
May Pinup of the Month – Ludella Hahn
posted by Aubrey London
Hot Rod Pinup Ludella Hahn If you're a fan of Modern Pinup and you told me you don't know who Ludella Hahn is, I'd ask you what rock you were living under. If an award for "America's Sweetheart of Fetish Models" existed, I'm pretty sure Ludella would win it, atleast in my book... She's been in Retro Lovely magazine numerous times, and can be seen modeling on countless Pin Up clothing sites. Besides that, Ludella stars in many hot, sizzling, and tantalizing burlesque shows and it's really no wonder why. Ludella boasts a curvaceous physique with a bright and sparkling imagination to match. Anything different and unique is what fuels this Pin Up and really gets her engine roarin'. This Pinup gone wild has an affinity for oddities or as Ludella calls them 'eccentricities' and has a major case of 'puppet love' - which you will understand after you read my interview with her.You can check out her photos from recent shows on her website which is linked at the end of this story. You have an amazingly diverse portfolio of work. What is your favorite type of modeling? Thank...
Huntington Beach Hot Rod Hottie – Pinup Dinah DeRosa

Hot Rod Pinup Dinah Derosa This week's smokin' hot pinup, is none other than Dinah Derosa. Dinah is featured below in photos brought to you by Pin Up Photographer extraordinaire Mitzi Valenzuela of Mitzi&Co. Dinah is a lady who knows what she wants and I'd put my money on the fact that she knows how she's gonna get it! Her devilish, sexy smirk may get you, or maybe it's her gorgeous aqua colored eyes? Whatever the case, be sure to check out her photos, and also read her interview with me- if you can take your eyes off of her long enough... So first off, are you taken or lookin' for love? I am happily taken. What about a man is a major turn on for you? Turn offs? The biggest turn on to me is someone who basically has their act together. When a man is full of drive and grabs life by the horns, it makes for a lot of excitement. I also like when a guy takes good care of himself, he's gotta have hobbies, and no prissy boys! Intellect is a HUGE turn on. As for turn off's, there's a...

Drag Racing Art by Liz Northrup Liz Northrup is an artist and true hot rod and drag racing enthusiast. This article is written by her and features her newest hot rod art piece, the legendary "Motown Missile". -pikesan In the midst of looking for ideas on a project, I was referred to seek help from a fellow artist named Bill Stinson. Interestingly, I’ve learned that Bill has a unique past as a writer and cartoon artist for various hot rod magazines such as, ISCA's ‘Show Stopper’, ‘CARtoons’, and the original ‘Hot Rod DeLuxe’. Bill currently writes for ‘Cruis’news magazine’. Bill was kind enough to send me a few pictures of some of the most legendary drag cars in history. Out of that collection, one car in particular caught my interest: the Motown Missile, a ‘70 Dodge Challenger. Being a Mopar fan, I was intrigued to learn more of it’s story. Bill is friends with Ted Spehar, who owned and built the Motown Missile. Teddy (as Bill likes to call him) is a master in building high performance engines and had extraordinary success with the Chrysler Hemi’s. Teddy was commissioned...

How To Survive Your First Track Day
posted by JZ
Track Day Racing - What you need to know Every car enthusiast wants to drive on a race track – whether it’s a chance to hit the oval, cut a great light at the strip, or test your skills at a road course, the allure of the race track is obvious: there are no cops, no stoplights, and no minivans to pull out in front of you. It’s just you and the pavement. And maybe some walls. Many clubs offer open track days, driver schools, and other events where you can get your car out on the race track. Some clubs require you to join up to participate, others are happy to take virtually anyone. If your club doesn’t do track days, just ask around and you’re sure to find at least one opportunity in your area. Fair Warning: Driving on a Race Track is Dangerous Before you sign up, there are three things you need to know: The first and most important thing to remember is that no matter how great your car drives and handles on the street, it’s likely to feel like a bowl of loose...

Tanks Crushing Cars at the Tank Museum

2011 AAF Tank Museum Military Extravaganza Editor's note: Bubba got some great shots of some of the baddest rides around on a recent trip to Virginia. When at the helm of one of these tanks... protecting yourself and the soldiers with you, this is "My Ride is Me." So endulge us here and enjoy the heaviest hot rods around! What do you do if your hot rod is a 44 ton M60A2 tank? You crush stuff of course! In the three years that I have been working for MyRideisMe, I have covered hot rods, customs, street rods, lowriders, classics, rat rods, race cars, and a many other vehicles. It' s hard finding different vehicles that I can share with you. So when I saw that the AAF Tank Museum in Danville, VA was holding their Military Extravaganza once again I knew we had to be there. The Tank Museum houses over 117 tanks and armor. Many of these pieces are rare like this US M1917 known as a “Six Ton Special”. Out of 950 built, only about a dozen still remain. What’s it like to stare down the barrel...
Gasoline Girls Take On VLV 2011
posted by GreaseGirl
This might have been the 14th Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender, but it was the momentous 1st VLV car show for the Gasoline Girls Car Club! It seems like Viva has always been an important landmark for me in my car journeys. Its hard to believe that it was just three years ago that my 1955 Studebaker’s engine swap got finished a mere 12 hours before I drove it across the desert alone to attend VLV 2008. The following year, at VLV 2009, was the fateful meeting between Becky Sue and I where an instant friendship was made. Soon after, we began plotting our plans to create a working-on-cars focused all-girls car club. Two years later, the Gasoline Girls are celebrating their first anniversary! So at Viva Las Vegas 2011 the milestones continued as the Gasoline Girls made their longest journey yet as a club – traveling across the Mojave desert to attend the largest rockabilly weekender party and car show ever! Follow along with us and enjoy the ride! We scooted out of So Cal early Thursday morning – beating the traffic and meeting up with the Throttle Kings Car...
Cute, Cool and Hot at 2011 Viva Las Vegas Car Show
posted by GreaseGirl
Hot Rods and Cool Classics at 2011 VLV Car Show Who knew Viva Las Vegas began as a music festival? Heck...we're only interested in the cars! What I love about rockabilly car shows - is you get a little bit of everything. VLV14 in 2011 is no exception. From barely running to nearly show quality and everything in between... it'll be at Viva! This slammed three-window was a-glow in glitter. Heavy green metal flake covering nearly everything... what wasn't covered in green flake was covered in silver flake. So mean... but so cute! This larger sedan looks clean laying on the pavement! From sunrise to sundown, the VLV car show at The Orleans was hoppin'! This chopped Ford Pickup had just the right style. Great tire choice. A clean chop job. And time-worn Ford Blue was a terrific color choice! My car club, the Gasoline Girls, were there for our 1st time as a club too! Lori's 1948 Ford F1 "Bondorella" got tons of attention! Onlookers went crazy for Bondorella's bare metal with hidden ice-pearl flake cleared over it. (See more Gasoline Girl's Adventures!) This five-window coupe got it...
