Not a Rat Rod Custom Woodie Story submitted by MyRideisMe.com member: Woodbutcher This project started out as a 32 chevy woody pedal carI built for my daughter, she put it in two local shows and won 2 1st's. Took it to goodguys KC and won "Best Bitch'n" pedal car. So why not build me one? Mine started as 2 1/2 ton dual wheel flatbed truck. I bought the cowl for $85.00 took a pile of parts in the shop, and came up with a plan. I took the pile of part's and a concept to Matt Schroeder of Newton KS. He built a all custom 100 inch chassis with 20" kick up in rear, front axle over frame 10 bolt posi with stock trailing arms and direct port air bags in rear. I got the chassis back and my work began. I ran all brake lines installed 305 with vintage offenhauser intake /edelbrock 600 carb, chrome Sanderson shorty headers. (Matt also fabed a full exhaust with tail pipes) and it doesn't need any more then that. It's all backed by a flip-o-matic turbo 350 trans. After I had...
December Pinup of the Month – Frenchy La Femme
posted by pikesan
I first found this pinup beauty in a set of pictures from my friend and professional photographer Justice Howard. Justice shot some pics of Frenchy La Femme getting pinstriped on her chest. The picture is steaming hot, no doubt about it. Those pics are shown in the Pinup Pinstriping post. I contacted Frenchy through her myspace page to be December's Pinup of the Month. This photo was taken by a friend! His name is Chris and he's a self taught dude with a good eye. He's also a car builder. Frenchy tells me he's,"a unique individual with style in the custom culture car scene." I wonder if that's his car? So does Frenchy like cars? "Hot rods, lead sleds, ranfflas, rat rods whatever you call your ride- I love them all. My dream car would be a ’49 Chevy pick up truck- Pink satin with a white pearl flake top- very frenchy- I know…a Desoto front end grill and Packard headlights! Any fella out there who is willing to make any suggestion please send me little message." What'd you think when you were getting your chest pinstriped? He's kinda...
Sick Seconds – Fastest Street Car in America Build

After accomplishing a major record in Hot Rod Magazine's Drag Week 2007, ProRides (www.goprorides.com) is about to embark on a new level of performance never seen before. Not only did ProRides head to Drag Week with the intention of beating the old record (think mid-low 8 second 1/4 mile times!), but to finish the event, driving 1,000 miles while pulling a trailer. While the bets were being placed that the clean black Camaro wouldn't even finish the week, the car shook the hot rod and race world by posting a first pass E.T. of 7.64. Truly the pass heard 'round the world! Granted, the ProRides team was as surprised as anyone, and the venture served to underscore the positive results that come from combining great companies and partnerships with a thorough process. So many have asked "what is next?" After talking to Rob Kinnan of Hot Rod Magazine at this years Drag Week, the ProRides crew had the idea of building a 6-second ET capable car to drive the grueling 1,000 mile Drag Week course. Imagine.... a 6 second ET vehicle driving 200-300 miles per day while pulling a...
66 Super Sport Gasser in Pink (yea, pink!)
posted by pikesan
Hot Rod Chevy Gasser It takes all kinds, we know that, but you gotta like the gasser style from the 60's. Straight axle jacked up in the front with a slight lift in the back too. It's an attitude. It says, "I'm fast and I was built to run." So stumbling along at the Goodguys Southwest Nationals in Scottsdale, enjoying the sun and the 3000+ cars, I found one that stopped me in my tracks. It's a gasser alright, but it was pink. Pink! Not that goofy Mary K pink or some faded, pale pretty in pink, this was HOT pink and it was glowing in the Arizona sun. People walking by kept turning their heads sideways. Delirium? I gotta get a story about this car. Questions poured out when I finally had a chance to meet Bob Starks of Weatherford, TX. The story Bob told about his car epitomizes, "My Ride is Me." After buying a 1966 Chevy II Super Sport new, then selling it to buy a house, Bob has painstakingly remade his car. (Check out the pictures of the original car at the bottom of this...
Twin Huffers on a sick Model T
posted by pikesan
Ron Ginn from Albuquerque, New Mexico ain't playin' when it comes to building ridiculous horsepower Model T's. I asked Ron, "Why two blowers?" and he kindly expanded on the theorem: "Injection is nice... but blown once is twice as nice!" I take that to mean, why the hell not? Like so many folks at the 2008 Goodguys Southwest Nationals in Scottsdale, AZ, you're gawking at 572 cubic inches of Chevy power in this highly detailed Model T. I won't call it a "Ford" because from looking at Ron's garage here at MyRideisMe.com, I think Ron's more of a Chevy guy. Twin Blown Stepping back, the ride Ron calls, "Nas T Too" was a 4 year build with everything but the paint and interior done by Ron in his home shop. That includes milling or turning several custom pieces on the car. Ron said that "dipping" into the hot rod fund to buy a mill and lathe was essential. He made alot of chips (scrap!) before he made any parts, but you might have guessed that there aren't many off-the-shelf pieces available for twin blown big blocks! Looking closely, there...

Woodward Ave’s Legend, Jimmy Addison
posted by pikesan
Written By: Bill Stinson, published with permission. Bill wrote this story in May of 2006, but it wasn't until 2007 when I first saw the Silver 1967 (not 68) Plymouth GTX known as the Silver Bullet. The undisputed "King of Woodward Ave" drew a crowd for days at the legengary Woodward Avenue cruise and stirred up quite a controversy when there were two of them! (that's another story about the Silver Bullet) Please enjoy this story from a man who was there and knew the owner of the Silver Bullet, Jimmy Addison. The Passing of a Legend I first met Jimmy Addison around 1961. The McKay family lived down the street from me, and of the five kids in that family, there were the twins, Gloria and Gerri (Geraldine). They were (and are) about four years older than me. One of them (Gloria) had a suitor who drove a cool ’60 Chevy convertible, black with a white top, red and white interior, packin’ a hopped-up 348 4-speed. That car was named “Restless”. Jimmy and his friend Ted White raced the car on the street and at the strip and...
Party with the Arizona Sinners
posted by pikesan
I only heard it was a "Rat Rod" car show in Phoenix. My roadster's a rat rod, whatever that means anymore, so I figured I'd fit in. Later I found out the party was hosted by my online friend Cadillac Cowboy (Bob) and his buddies from the Arizona Sinners. Bob's got a few pics of his nasty Blown 427 Model T in his garage here at MyRideisMe.com. The Arizona Sinners I've met have been easy going and die hard car guys. They build what the drive and they drive'm hard. One sinner at the party, Jerry, introduced me to the HAMB message board way back in 2002. If you want to find Jerry, look for his Hawaiian/Vintage style shirt at just about any swap meet in AZ. He'll be there carrying a handful of vintage tools and an old gauge or two. He's one of those guys that's always there early then stays late to get the deals. I also think he'd drive his old Chevy truck (old cause he likes it that way!) across Arizona uphill both ways to help a friend. It was cool to meet Bob...

30 Tips for Pinup Models

Pinup Tips for a successful photo shoot. Printed with permission from Varga Photography. You can also catch him at his Myspace page: Roy Varga's Myspace. It’s all in the face... I don't care if you’re flat as a wall or have curves for days if you’re good at making faces that’s all that matters... Props make a huge difference...in all pinup pics the main focus is the gal of course...but sooner or later you will run out of poses... that's where props make a world of difference... plus they are fun and you can play make believe. Always have a backup plan I don't care if it’s a backup outfit or a backup location you always have to be ready... ha-ha one time a gal showed up in what she was wearing and 1 other outfit that didn't match... yeah those are the rough ones. When it comes to hair and makeup leave it to the professionals... I mean personally I don't know jack about hair and makeup. I just tell my gal to make'm pretty... but in my experience if your gonna go all out and make the...
Bonnie gets an Interior! Choose which one!
posted by pikesan
I've written before that the new friends I've made after starting MyRideisMe.com are so much better then the friends I used to have. Wait, no... I mean... I've met some great people. One of those outstanding new friends is Jimmy Smith from Jimmy's Hot Rod Design. I called Jimmy to see if he could give some advice for the interior of my 1927 Ford Modified, "Bonnie". I've owned the car for (god has it been that long?!) over 7 years and I've never put an interior in. I've got buy with a foam pad and recently a crappy seat I made myself. I've also had to put up with the, "You gonna put an interior in that thing?" questions. Well yea, finally I am. That's where you come in. When I asked Jimmy for advice, I was hoping for reference pics or maybe some color ideas or even a magazine or two to check out. Jimmy's another guy who routinely flushes more hot rod history and knowledge then most folks, probably including me. That's why he does work for several well known hot rod shops like Squeeg's...
