Mark Jacobs' Salt-shots from Bonneville my man... Mark's come through with a great set of pictures from 2013 Bonneville Speed Week. With his wife Teresa, they flew down from Washington to attend their 2nd Speed Week. Instead of an over-priced hotel room, they stop by a sporting goods store, or Target or the like and get all the camping gear - and cooler full-a-cold-ones - to hang at the local KOA campgrounds with friends. Between or busy photo sessions (consisting of mostly shooting every cool thing we see!) we hung out and caught up on what's been happening since last year's Speed Week... So enjoy Mark's photos and tell'm hey over at his Photography Fan Page. Rob Ida's Tucker recreation. It was awesome to meet Rob and see the Gyronaut X-1 recreation Rob worked on as well. I've seen some amazing picture of the Tucker floating around Instagram. Rob's a Tucker fan because his grandfather owned a Tucker dealership! Tell me Mark shouldn't make posters of these fine hot rods!! Do you prefer the color, or black and white? Click here for all of...
2200 Miles in a Roadster- Hot Rod Roadtrip to Bonneville

Drive your Hot Rod! Nebraska to Utah in a Model A Roadster Download image for your iPhone here. Nick Hoesing's a cool guy. We met at Bonneville Speed Week 2009, my first year there. He was cruising a great looking 1962 Ford Galaxie he'd driven from Omaha, Nebraska to the Salt Flats in Utah. As friends on Facebook, I caught a glance of the model A roadster he was building, but hadn't made it over to the HAMB for a full look. I wish I had before I shot these pictures because I missed some fine details of this roadster. I'll write a brief history of the build, but you should read the 40 or so pages of posts at the HAMB where Nick supplies details and photos of the build and fellow HAMBers encourage him and help when needed. That's a community to be proud of. Build of Nick's Model A Hot Rod In the shortest summary of Nick's supreme one-car-garage hot rod build... Nick started with a 28/29 Ford Model A Roadster body, then added a Blackboard Hot Rods 1932 Ford frame. The...
2012 Bonneville Speed Week – Hot Rods in Wendover

Failed Bonneville Hot Rod Take-over at the Nugget What do I mean failed? Well, compared to shows at the Nugget years ago, this one was a bust. First off, it's been raining on and off since we rolled into Wendover. It'd be easy to say that the show was small because of the weather, but my buddy Keith kept saying, "Well, the cars have to be parked somewhere!" For me, I kept snapping photos. If you see a blurry spot on a pic, it was mother nature's fault. Looking closer, we noticed most of the parking along the casino was blocked off. The normal parking spots along the road were filled with the first-come-first-served hot rods, but as new roadsters and heavily chopped coupes rolled in, they found nowhere to park. I bugged the casino manager, "What gives?" He explained that after the show last year where there were too many cars and too many people, the fire marshall shut them down. Sorry, I call BS. I think it's more likely that the casino's management blocked off more hot rods from filling their parking...
Hot Rods of Bonneville Speed Week 2011

Salty Boneville Hot Rods 2011 Bonneville Speed Week sponsored by Spectre Performance I'd like to tell ya I'm a great photographer. I'd like to even suggest that I posed these hot rods on the salt for a big-time photo shoot. I didn't. Truth is, Bonneville Speed Week brings out some of the coolest vintage hot rods you'll find. The coupe above is from Wrecked Metal. My buddy Josh Clason did a cool video at Wrecked Metal's shop featuring the guys who drove in from Idaho. What else do you want? This trick little roadster was way different and way cool. Dig the triple carbed six cylinder, the swept back Duvall style windshield and look closely for the motorcycle-like gas tank out back. If you think this is a thrown together "rat rod" you're wrong. (Stop thinking that and seek help) Speed Week brings out the hot rods. It's simple! When you see them out on the salt... tires caked with it, chunks sitting on the louvered roofs... it's plain to see: These hot rods are driven and the owners are having fun. That's enough...
Wrecked Metal Hot Rods Video

Hot Rod Video from Idaho Give credit when it's due. I gotta say, I like taking pictures. Not just pictures of hot rods, but just about everything. And although editing takes some time, I enjoy it! For the pictures, recomposing them, making the most of the colors, zooming in or out... it's fun and the end result's rewarding. That's not true for me with video. I hate editing video! For that reason, the few I've done aren't much to look at. On the other hand, check out the handiwork from Josh Clason. Josh tells us: "I had the opportunity to cruise up to Boise, Idaho a few months ago and meet with Matt Whitlock of Wrecked Metals. We had a great time shooting this over the course of 2 days. The cars and motorcycles Matt has put his touch on have been amazing." [vimeo]http://vimeo.com/20498710[/vimeo] Josh first caught my eye when in his first trip to Bonneville, he shot this Bonneville Speed Week Video. The boy's got skills! Josh, let us know what's next! Hot Rod Salt Pilgrimage Part 1

Hot Rods at Bonneville Salt Flats Every year tons of hot rods, rat rods and some customs make the road trip of a lifetime to the Bonneville Salt Flats for Speed Week. I spotted these hot rods cruising around the pits and thought you might like to see 'em. I gave you all a sneak peek in the Speed Week 2010 Cruise In blog post for some of these rods. This time we'll get down and salty with my favorite rides of Speed Week. This is H.A.M.B.er Bass's bad Model A 5 Window Coupe that made the Hot Rod Pilgrimage from Dallas, Texas by himself. Yes, SOLO!!!. My jaw dropped when I saw this Coupe parked next to the tech inspection area. All I could say was "Wow!". I was too curious and found his thread on the HAMB HERE and read that this is bare metal. It had already started to surface rust by the time he got home after being out on the salt and going through a humid Texas. I really like this photo. Gives you a detailed shot of the well executed...

Bonneville Speed Week 2010 Cruise In at the Nugget Casino The Cruise In at the Nugget Casino is a Bonneville Speed Week must-see. Let's take a peek at some pictures of the salty hot rods that showed up this year. (Here's pictures of 2009 Nugget Car Show) Flattie powered pickup running a favorite wheel/tire combo, white walls and steelies. Can't get enough of the salt on top of the rods. We're workin on a post that shows how it got up there! Hot Rod Bread Truck. Perfect stance for bread delivery, how cool is that?! I love hot roddin'. The Rolling Bones Hot Rod Shop cars and crew managed to grab the prime parking spot up front. 32's and louvers! Jim Baugh's 33 Ford Sedan drove out from Washington state. I met him at the Salt Flats Speed Shop Open House. More coming on this rod soon. This shot gives you a look at the amount of people crammed into the parking lot at the Nugget Casino. This deuce roadster is beautiful with its blown flattie up front and silver paint that looks almost like metal. One of my...
Speed Week 2010 Cruise In on the Salt Flats

Bonneville Salt Flats Hot Rods and Custom Cars I heard more than one person comment that Speed Week is like one HUGE Cruise In. I totally agree. This is my 4th year coming to the Bonneville Salt Flats. I've got "Salt Fever" bad and the only fix is more salt, right? This is my first post of Speed Week 2010 and I wanted to highlight my favorite hot rods and custom cars I spotted on the salt. I'll dig into a few of these in later posts with more pictures of what makes these hot rods so cool to me. Keep checking back at MyRideisMe.com for more. In no particular order... (don't forget to click on the picture to zoom in for more viewing pleasure) The KDF Mangler Volksrod... ya, you're gonna hear and see a lot about this car on the automotive internet circles I think. This car just popped on the salt and turned heads with its dual carbed Corvair motor, super low stance and overall COOL FACTOR. It was one of the biggest neck-breakers out there on the Salt Flats during the 62nd Annual Bonneville Speed Week. It was easily...

1933 Ford Pickup Gets Salty at Speedweek 2009
posted by Hechtspeed
Bonneville Salt Flats Hot Rod: One piece of the Bonneville Speedweek recipe that can't be forgetten is the get together on Friday and Saturday night at the Golden Nugget in Wendover. From a Salt insider, the Nugget Car Show is not an official car show. You won't find any websites announcing the Car Show, but it just sort of happens. It has become a tradition. Enter Jerry Armijo and his 1933 Ford Pick up hot rod. As I was strolling the Nugget parking lot soaking in the hot rods, I saw this pick up full of Salt. It was not the only hot rod with salt covering it, but it appeared to be the rod with the most. One of my favorite parts of the Bonneville Salt Flats is how the salt gets everywhere. These open wheeled hot rods are especially good at flinging the salt. I started snapping pictures of this rod and how the salt was basically covering the windshield when I met Jerry, the proud owner. Here's what I found out about this cool ride. It's a 1933 Ford Pick up. When...
