It was an early morning wandering around the quaint streets of Stevensville, Montana. The last thing I expected to see was a slammin' 1934 Ford Hot Rod Pickup. If it wasn't for my own pre-morning-coffee-haze I would've gone into the Full Moon Saloon and inquired who the owner was. Lucky for me (and you) that I ran into this pretty truck along with its owner Ken Scobie, once more that evening at the Stevensville Summer Picnic & Car Show. With 2 trophies under its belt in a mere 4 weeks since being completed, this truck is worth giving a peek. Its been built from the frame up by Ken Scobie, a San Diego native that migrated on up to Montana 35 years ago while still working as mechanic. He's since retired, and at the age of 69 says "For a poor kid growing up in the days of cool rods it has always been a dream of mine to build a rod in the old school style." Build a rod he did! "Finding this beauty was the real treat. She was in Helena, Montana behind a house out in...
Cool Nights in Phoenix – Cruise on Central
posted by pikesan
Info about the October 2009 Cruise and the $5 Charge Carbon footprint size 12 triple E, but that was fun! For those of us living in Arizona, April's not necessarily the START of the cruising season, but it the sure is nice! After some ill timed rain canceled the cruise on April 11th, we got treated to some especially nice weather for April 18th. Wow, enough BS about the weather! So how was it? PACKED! I showed up late after a busy day of honey-do's and sports with my boys to find a packed house! At 8PM, about when I got there, some of Arizona's finest hot rods, customs and lowriders were found cruising to the delight of the packed sidewalks along Central in front of the Park Central Mall just south of Osborn. I didn't get a chance to cruise into the parking lot, but from the street it looked packed with cars and people and even the mandatory kettle corn vendor. For about 2 miles, it was a rare treat to actually enjoy "stop and go" traffic cause you were surrounded by cool cars and folks having...

Hot Rod Model A Shop Truck The post man doesn't go for a walk on his day off and hot rod builders, painters and upholstery guys never get a chance to finish their own cars. That's almost a rule! That's why it's my pleasure to show you the finished product when they do. This is th 1932 Hot Rod "Shop Truck" is owned by Glenn Kramer of Hot Rod Interiors, located in Glendale Arizona. Glenn says, "I've been doing upholstery since 1980, and decided the best ride for me would be an all around hot rod shop truck that I could use for work & play." If you can't reach Glenn at his website, or cruising his cool new shop truck at the Mesa Cruise or downtown on Central, then head over to his website at hotrodinteriorsbyglenn.com or give him a call at 623-872-2242. Glenn will be the guy grinning ear to ear when you see him and his wife cruising all over in the shop truck. Way to go Glenn! [gallery =...
George Trosley: Krass and Bernie Visit the Garage
posted by Bubba Harmon
If you have ever been to a large auto swap meet with commercial vendors or flipped through a car catalog that offers automobile collectibles for sale, then you've probably seen the art of George Trosley (Troz). Troz started his career the traditional way by attending Hussian School of Commercial Art in Philadelphia, PA. After schooling, he landed several well paying commercial jobs working for various studios. But Troz felt that something was missing in his life. Illustrating commercial products was boring and tedious. Taking a big chance in 1973, he threw it all away to chase his dream of becoming a freelance cartoonist. He soon began drawing for CARtoons magazine where he would later create a couple of the best loved characters of the magazine known as Krass and Bernie. Originally Troz wanted to name them “Crash and Burn” which were the nicknames for his brother and himself growing up. They received the nicknames from all their crazy mini-bike and go-cart stunts. Being the hard worker that he is, Troz refers to himself as an “art prostitute”; he is not scared to draw anything for anybody. His work has...
1965 Tiki Suburban – Perfect Theme Execution

Custom 1965 Chevy Suburban MyRideisMe.com is happy to have 680 members now, including this bad 1965 Chevy Suburban owned by Cameron and Debbie Day from Austin, TX. This is another well done "shop truck" for their hot rod parts business House O Speed. They have created a GREAT garage already even though they just joined. Their garage is a great example of how you can show detailed pics of the interior, engine and exterior of your ride in an organized way. You don't need to insert pics in an email to show a buddy what you're up to on your ride, just send them over to your MyRideisMe.com garage and you're all set! Cam says, this is Ratiki. It began life as an Arizona based 1965 Chevy Suburban built by my friends and I from the ground up over the span of five years. The concept was Cam's, that existed as ideas, a few magazine pics and some sketches. Cam then turned to my buddy Brian Stupski from Problem Child Kustoms to render the truck. Brian kindly referred the Day's over cause he knows I've got...

My Ride is Me had a busy weekend! NO! I didn't hang out with my mom! I went to my friend Steve Szymanski's shop called Industrial Chassis Inc. and got this ultra cool video of what has been transformed from a really nice truck to a full-on Big block Chevy - twin turbo -1000HP badass! I'm doing a full story on this car soon, but for now, here's the video: Here's a sneak peak under the hood too! That's a 427! Fuel injected, custom headers, you name it, this thing is done right. Much more later... Take a look at Steve's Garage (Click HERE) and see what else he's up to. I have a bunch more pics to show and a profile of Industrial Chassis coming up. What do you think? Wicked! Donahoe Racing in Trouble?
posted by pikesan
What started as a few Off road drivers posting concerns about service on their Donahoe Racing products allegedly is a much bigger story! A friend of mine showed me this post from Dezertrangers.com: POST LINK A forum member named DJSSniper posted the Riverside, California District Court notes from Monday, 12/17/2007 for the Honorable Stephen G. Larzon. Here's that link: Link to court notes If you scroll down to item #20 you'll see the notes for: USA vs. William Kreag Donahoe for two counts: 1) Distribution of Child Pornography and 2) Possession of Child Pornography W-W-W-What? Child Porn? Speculation at the forums then indicated that Donahoe Racing had closed it doors, however, I found a few posts that appear to be from current Donahoe Employees that say they are only restructuring. Here's the post from http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/ from DRDylan who is shown as Dylan Evans, an R&D Engineer at Donahoe Racing: POST DRDylan then posts again and a reply is made by a person who is shown as Mike Crosby, the National Sales Manager for Donahoe Racing. Custom 1965 Dodge D200 Truck at Goodguys This blog is well over due, but oh well. I need help writing these things, so if you're a struggling writer or just a car/bike freak with some extra time, why not give this a try? So here's Mike and Luz Wilson's 1965 Dodge D200. I met Mike at the Scottsdale Goodguys show when the sun was setting. I caught a couple good photos that I wanted to share. This truck is ultra clean and straight as an arrow and these pictures show it. Who's ever even seen one of these? Mike told me that the military and forest service were the ones buying up these trucks for a tough life, so the haven't survived well. Mike worked at Norman King Dodge back in '65 and since his pops needed a truck, the deal was made. I could have been Mike's plan all along to get the truck, but he had to wait 30 years before his dad was ready to let it go. Here's another D200: ICON 1965 D200 Crew Cab at SEMA 2012 The engine is a late model Hemi...

Pushing the Hot Rod Envelope

Hot Rod Semi - More than a Rat Rod Imagine yourself at a traditional hot rod show like Billetproof, enjoying Antioch California’s cool morning breeze when you smell diesel fumes. Billetproof isn’t the kind of show where you can trailer your baby in, so something’s not right. Then you hear the whine of a giant turbo just as this beast rounds the corner: Behold the 1950 Peterbilt owned by Michael Leeds. The name for this Hot Rod Semi is up in the air, but “Sneaky Pete” is the front runner. Michael comfortably cruised about 100 miles from Santa Cruz, CA thanks to the inline 6 Cummins turbo-diesel hooked to a 12 speed automatic transmission spinning highway friendly 2.92 gears. Michael guesses 12 to 20 mpg but driving range is no problem since he’s hauling 105 gallons in the polished aluminum fuel tank out back. This baby’s read to travel, even weighing in at about 7000 lbs. Michael’s no stranger to giant scale projects. Ever heard of Blastolene? Michael designed Blastolene which was later purchased by legendary car collector Jay Leno. Blastolene’s got an M47 Patton Tank engine that’s 1800...
Slammed Nissan Armada

This Armada's old news! Check this out: Nissan Armada GTR- Not for Soccer Mom I caught this ride at the Scottsdale, AZ Pavilions on Saturday 9/1. The Pavilions is a weekly show at the McDonald's at Indian Bend and the 101.I've got a sweet spot for Nissan's since I'm an Engineer for Nissan. This is the first time I've seen a slammed Armada. The Titan's been done but it's got a solid rear axle. The Armada's rear axle is independent. Eric from Phoenix has this truck done right. 26"Giovanna GG 111 rims tucked in a custom color matched Katzkin charcoal leather interior and a JL Audio system by House of Sounds. It's a well done truck. Check it out! From the back... be sure to check out ArtofNoize.com for more info about the truck. Hopefully, Eric will make a garage at MyRideisMe.com so he can really show us what he's done. If you like what you see, please join...
