my most heartfelt thanks to roy, john, and all the talented men (team) that created this roadster ……. well done!!!
The best thing about this Roadster is the great story behind it. Kelly Brown
is a personal friend of mine. We both live in northern california we get togeather
for lunch when we can and talk hot rods. Kelly and I are old school so its not
just about the money. This a great all around story from top to bottem because
we all had cars we didn’t finish. From start to finish this was a great ride.
thank you

Thanks Buzz! I’m trying to reach Kelly Brown to do a story about the car. Say hey to him at lunch!

And the best part is…..Genuine Stromberg 97 Equipped!!. Thanks everyone at MRIM!
Best AMBR winner in many years.
the right car won in 2013 . I love the new judging now we have real hot rods winning this award just the way it should be!!! gary kessler
“AWESOME”!!!
I agree with Gary Kessler. I hope this is not just special interest judging, but rather a sign of the times. Maybe we have come back to appreciate “Real Hot Rods” rather than how much money an individual can throw at his ego booster.
See the real car I built in 2005 that received almost no recognition but for the Rod & Custom feature and a pile of trophies. (Gentleman’s Hot Rod)
Restraint from making them better than they were, by using electric fans, alternators, disc brakes, etc., is a hard road to follow and takes a lot of focus.
This is the best example of a real hot rod that I have seen, get deserving recognition.
My hat’s off to the crew that built this one!
Thanks!
I was a fan after the bare metal feature in Rodders Journal was unbelievable but the finished product just knocked my socks off. I feel that two years in a row they got it right . The GNRS is still “Oakland” to me as my 1st one was 1966 still in the original building.
