Well the Olds project has been relegated to the back burner... Son Jim who owns the Bantam brought home a '51 Ford F1 pickup he has been fitting a new Speedway front axle and bake assembly. The body looks like it's been sectioned about 3 -4 inches and it sit on a "modern" frame with suicide front end grafted on. Running out of space on where to work on them and still park the Tub inside....

Originally I channeled the body 8" over the frame. With the 5" top chop that gives a total 13" reduction in the cars profile and it's still a very large car. The door openings look like they could fit in a barn. A friend Chuck Nipress cut down the grill shell 6". He's a master body man and was able to match the curves and blushes so it looks like it was built that way in the factory. AAn early Mustang radiator fits perfectly! Bought a set of powdercoated red smoothies from an outfit in Morro Bay CA and the finish is superb. 8" for the rear and 4.5" for the front. A 7" dropped tube axle may be a little exstream but should give a real aggressive stance. A Jeep Cherokee rear end and a combo of the stock elliptical and air bags will finish up the suspension. Speedway column and stock F100 steering box finishes off those chores. I refurbished the stock wood wheel and it came out nice. Will post a pic as soon as I take one...

O.K. here's about a bakers Dz. of new pics from the 5' chop.... Notice all the wood is gone and replaced with square tubing. Guess we should have chopped it befor I spent all the $$ on the tubes we had to cut huh?

Got knida sidetracked with the Big "C" so the project has been sitting dormant for the last couple years. My Son Jim and I started back on it a couple weeks ago and chopped the top 5". Sure cleaned up the proportions nicely. Will post some pics in a little while to show the improvement....

Yeah I just picked the most genaric Olds in the list.. 2door 4door Coupe and Roadster would probably be good discriptions for most makes that didn't have specific models....
