"street rocket"     1979 My Ride is Me

Introduction / Overview: A formula 500 vintage race bike of sorts. I built it for a customer to run the streets with. It has a head light and tail lite. This is the second time around. I completed it once and with 4 miles on the clock still breakin in the motor, i was hit broadside by a dear sweet old lady who didnt see me at 1:30 pm in the afternoon. After all my broken bones healed up, I started with a front wheel, a few bits and pieces, and what was left of the motor my rt ankle didnt smash apart.
Drivetrain:

It's a mix and match Yamaha 400cc 2cyl 2 stroke. It started life as a 1979 Daytona Special. Many things have been changed to upgrade performance and reliability.  The motor is heavily ported, has a set of hand made pipes, bigger carbs, a cdi ignition with a dynamic curve built into a little black box. the front brakes are a custom appl. I do at RT Peformance. with 4 piston caliper, 420mm floating rotor, and a brembo master cyl. There are many other things internaly like trans and clutch mods along with a completly made from scratch wiring harness to run an Led tail lite. and an 85 watt head lite. The motor in streetable form makes abouit 75 HP @ the crank and the little rocket wieghs in at about 238lbs. Running a 6 gear transmission. Power to weight ratio..?

Scary!! Bring yer 750's and get embarrassed.
